John McStay, MBA, FCA founded the practice in 1993, having been the head of insolvency at an international accounting firm for many years. John is past Chairman of the Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies Insolvency Committee (South). He has written articles on the subject of business failure and related issues for a number of journals. He has also lectured in Ireland, the United Kingdom and The United States of America on these issues. John has acted as Receiver, Liquidator or Examiner in many major cases including ISTC, Cityjet, and Chorus Communications, and has also been appointed as Court-appointed arbitrator.
Jim Luby, FCA, AITI, is the former president of INSOL Europe – the professional association for European restructuring and insolvency specialists, and has previously practiced with a big four firm in Ireland and Australia. Jim has almost 30 years experience of business restructuring and insolvency. He acts as Court-appointed examiner and official liquidator, and as receiver and investigating accountant. Major cases include KPNQwest group companies, South Midland Construction and XL Leisure group. Jim also leads our litigation support/forensic accounting practice.
B.COMM, FCA worked in industry as director of finance before joining the firm in 2000. He previously worked in the corporate recovery department of a major accounting firm for over 10 years during which time he also gained experience on secondment with the asset structuring department of a leading financial institution. He has acted as liquidator, receiver and investigating accountant. He is a Council member of the Irish Society of Insolvency Practitioners.
